What is the Goa Cashew Festival?

It is one of the most loved culinary events in recent times. The festival is organized to celebrate the harvest of cashew apples. It has emerged as the face of Goan heritage. The festival is aimed at highlighting cashews’ journey – from farm to table. It also brushes over different products that can be curated using cashews. Thus, bringing together people from diverse backgrounds – farmers, distillers and chefs.  

It was kickstarted with the goal of boosting local culture and rural tourism by the governing body. With growing popularity, it has transformed into a multi-day extravaganza. A lot of activities are carried out to maximize reach via music, food, workshops  and tastings. Festival has become so popular that footfall keeps increasing every year. It has become the buzz of town. And you will soon experience it in the air. 

What to expect?

Harvesting demo: You hop on the journey of how the cashew fruit is harvested traditionally. And maybe, you get to try your hands on the tools too!!

Feni distillation and tasting: Goa is known for its iconic spirit. From crushing fruits to distilling it, witness the entire process first-hand. Enjoy the finest batches that will carve a wonderful memory. 

Cashew-inspired delicacies – We all know and love the cashew-based dishes such as kaju katli, kaju biryani and laddoos – culinary artistry at its finest. From pop-up stalls to food trucks, everyone participates to offer something unique – from fusion dishes to local cuisines. 

Live music and dance – Nothing in Goa is complete without dance and music. It all comes to life when dance troupes and theater skits deliver back-to-back amazing performances.  

Goan agrarian life is showcased to the public via interactive sessions that encircle activities such as sustainable farming, craft making, cooking classes and storytelling sessions.
